A few years ago a dog we had went blind from diabetes. He was so worried about hurting himself he wouldn't do anything but lay around all day. I searched online for a solution and found Muffin's Halo. It gave him a second life. He was unstoppable! A couple months ago another dog of ours has gone blind from diabetes. But this time I knew exactly what to do when he stopped taking an interest in things. I got online and ordered him his very own halo. Now he cruises around and banks that hoops into everything. He's fearless and indestructible. Thank you Muffin's Halo for giving our beloved pets the chance they need to live out their lives happy and mobile!
I wanted to share this with you if you ever have a blind dog that needs a little extra help. Maddie is almost 12 and totally blind now from Glaucoma. I was trying to find something to help her not run into stuff because she was starting to not want to play anymore. I ran across this, Muffins Halo. In just three days she’s already back to playing and she’s figured out that when that halo touches something that she needs to be careful. Absolutely hundred percent would recommend to anybody dealing with a blind baby.
My dog weighs 2.5 lbs. He's a 15-year-old Rusky Toy. Unsurprisingly, I had to make a few adjustments because even the smallest size was a bit too big. I secure the hoop with zip ties directly onto the sides of the harness. My dog now moves with much more confidence. It took him about three days to get the hang of it.
Hi Luc,
Thank you so much for the thoughtful review! We’re especially happy to hear that your little guy is moving with more confidence—that’s exactly what Muffin’s Halo is designed to support.
At 2.5 lbs, he is certainly on the very small end of the size 1 range, and we understand that some fine-tuning may be needed for extra petite pups. While we don’t officially recommend modifying the Halo or securing it with zip ties, we truly appreciate you sharing what has worked for you!
If you’d ever like, feel free to reach out to our team directly with photos of the fit. We’re always happy to review positioning and offer suggestions to ensure it’s as safe and comfortable as possible.
Thank you again for trusting us to support your senior pup!
Best,
Muffin's Halo Team
My 16 year old Maltipoo recently went blind all of a sudden due to cataracts, she was able to have surgery on one of her eyes and will retain some Vision after the swelling goes down however she needs the Halo to navigate so she does not run into things with the little bit of vision that she has left. My animal eye doctor recommended muffin pillows and I was so glad to find it, it is a perfect fit and lightweight for my 5 lb dog.
I tried it on my boy and it seems like it’s going to work well but I can’t really review it properly right now because he’s still recovering from his eye surgery and has a cone on his head for another month before I can start using it. He lost an eye in the summer and now he had a terrible accident with the other eye which has caused him to lose his vision. I’m glad I found this halo it looks like it’s going to be perfect
It took a little bit to figure out how to get it adjusted so that it worked for him properly, but it does seem like it gives him confidence because he knows that at least he’s not going to bump his head. He seems surprised when he gets booped by the Halo itself, but he doesn’t seem to mind it. He walks well with it!
I was hesitant to purchase because my dog has been doing so well at home. I have a trip coming up and my pup will be staying with a friend. We tested out the halo at my friend’s home and it totally helped my dog to get around. It protected her head from bumping into things. It protected things from hitting her in the eye. It didn’t take her very long to get used to it either. My pup doesn’t need it for home, but it is nice to have for when we venture out to new places.
With this halo, Mina, our 18 year old Chorkie, can get around the house without bumping in to furniture and walls. In addition to her being safer and more confident, we think our little angel looks cute with her halo and wings!
Doesn't avoid 100% of collisions but feel much better about her navigating around with it to protect her face. Would recommend!
Conceptually...it's a fantastic help for a pup like ours who's lost both eyes because of medical complications. It was easy to figure out how to use and attach it. The problem is...our 11 pound senior girl seems to want to sniff out or explore areas below or to the side the range of the halo. So, that's a bit challenging. But, on the whole, it does help and we keep it on her most of the day to reduce the number of times she bumps into things.
This is our second Muffin's Halo we've ordered for our dog, Luna. She was born with ocular malformations, including microphthalmia. Her vision has decreased over the years, and last year our vet suggested we try getting her a Muffin's Halo. After a week of introducing her to the halo, she was so much more confident and less fearful navigating the house and even on walks. Before the Halo she had run into objects on walks as her vision decresed and she became scared and anxious. Now she is visibly more confident when she's wearing the halo and when we move furniture or are in a new place, we makes sure we bring the Halo. I highly recommend this game-changer, be patient as you introduce, but be ready to be so relieved and happy for your blind pet.
Our sweet 9 year old Frenchie Daphne finally lost the battle with glaucoma in May 2025 losing vision in her remaining eye before enucleation. While she was spending a month long recovery in a cone, we knew we needed to figure something out for long-term safety and comfort. The cone did not go well with verbal cues due to sound distortion. She has now been wearing her halo for about 7 weeks and is doing tremendously well. It gives her the confidence to navigate her new world better and gives us peace of mind since we are both working adults where she is left unattended by humans for several hours during the day. The structure of the three-piece set is far superior to any alternative we had purchased and considered. The clear winner was Muffin’s Halo, and we came back to purchase another two colors! It is sturdy, comfortable, and clearly made of quality materials. Rest assured that customer support is amazing as well. We were accidentally shipped an incorrect size and support was extremely quick to respond and send out a replacement for exchange. It’s important to note that their normal return policy doesn’t permit for refunds or exchanges so be mindful of triple measuring your pets.
Hi Jennifer,
Thank you so much for sharing Daphne’s story and for your kind words! We’re so happy to hear that Muffin’s Halo has helped her navigate with more confidence and brought you peace of mind during this transition.
We're also glad our team could quickly get the correct size to you. Just as an FYI, we do offer exchanges to ensure pets get the correct size they need, so you can always reach out if adjustments are ever required!
Wishing you and Daphne all the best!
Warm regards,
Muffin's Halo Team
Less than a year after having cataract removal surgery, the retinas in both of my senior Chihuahua's eyes tore within 2 weeks of each other so he went from partially sighted to fully blind. He's already deaf and became very distressed, bumping into everything, until he refused to move at all and would just cry.
It took him about 2 days to adjust to the Halo, but now he knows when the vest is on his face is protected and he's much more confident moving around, especially outside on a walk.
We of course take it off at night but he will snooze it during the day comfortably and knows when he's wearing it that he's safe to walk around.
He is still adjusting to this new life but I'm happy the Halo has made him feel safer overall. Highly recommended.
Muffin’s Halo has been a game-changer for my 13-year-old dog, who recently lost her vision. Before using the halo, she frequently bumped into furniture and even developed an eye ulcer from one of the impacts. Since introducing the halo, she no longer injures her face when navigating around the house.
The only minor drawback is that the halo has started to lose its shape, likely due to repeated contact with furniture and getting caught on the bottom edge of the oven door. Despite this, it continues to function effectively and has made a noticeable difference in her safety and confidence.
My 16 year old Chihuahua Peal is blind.
Within moments of wearing her halo she had acclimated to it and was no longer walking into things.
It’s an amazing find for us, even my other ( fully sighted dogs) can see how it’s helping all of us.
She’s also stopped getting underfoot which is a bonus for me, as I’m not tripping over her.
I adopted my little poodle from the shelter about six months ago- she is blind and has been getting around the house OK, but she always moved around very carefully. It took her about two days to get used to it and figure out how to move around easily. The first day she kept trying to "shake" off the halo, but after a day she got used to it and finally started figuring it out. The velcro is strong and it stays put on her, although it seems to move around less when it is put on over a little jacket, so she wears both. With the halo, she is much more confident and moves much more quickly- plus I don't have to worry about her hurting herself! :) It's so lovely to see her feel more comfortable in her surroundings! I would definitely recommend!
I bought this for my 13 1/2 year old miniature schnauzer baby who just recently went totally blind. The quality of this product, and the confidence boost it’s given my little girl with navigating her new reality, are phenomenal. 10/10 recommend!
The Muffin Halo is a game changer for our blind dog. It helps him navigate confidently, safely without bumping his head. Giving him more confidence and freedom. It's so easy to put on and take off. Highly recommend!
It's very lightweight which is a great thing. My dog is very picky and was not adapting well to losing most of his sight (old age) but he doesnt have a problem with the halo at all. He quickly realized what it's for. I'm relieved that I can let him down and move around without him hurting himself.
The halo was purchased for my 16 year old Miniature Pinscher whose vision is almost 100% obscured due to cataracts. I was surprised as to how quickly he adapted to wearing the halo, which has given him confidence while walking anywhere he wants to go. It has prevented him from bumping into familiar furniture and walls that had previously caused him to get hurt. It also offers protection from a testy housecat that swipes at anyone or anything that invades his personal space. Because of his long, Minpin face, his nose does protrude past the side of the halo when he turns his head, but it hasn't been much of a concern. As recommended in order to prevent the halo from sliding to one side or the other due to the dog's short, smooth hair, I place a shirt (or sweater) under the halo and it does not slip at all. My dog happily wags his little tail when I put his angel wings and halo on him because he knows he can freely navigate with confidence.
Works great. My stubborn Bichon thinks he knows best about where to take himself and the halo has saved his face from lots of bruises
Mabel is the sweetest quirky pittie pup that has one heck of a story and most of it is assumption as she was found. She has almost no vision, maybe some shadow light contrast in one eye, but is about it. She’s about 4-6 years old so unknown how long she’s been blind, but we do not believe she was born this way. She is so smart and has learned to navigate beautifully, but at the expensive of her head. This ring has helped her navigate without clocking her noggin on corners and cabinets. It was easy to assemble, soft on her, and that is some industrial Velcro! She is dashing in pink as well. The halo was very well made and stood the test of a hardheaded pittie. Thank you for this wonderful product. If I ever foster another blind pittie, you will be my first stop and I am definitely going to share you guys to my rescue buddies.
This has been a great help with my blind Cavalier. It just took a couple of days for him to get used to it and it prevents so many bumps. I wish I had bought this right away, it would have saved so many trips to the vet for bumped eyes. Even though my house is set up for him he is still an active dog and has bumped his eyes several times. The halo is sturdy and sits above the head unlike the other styles I have seen that sits at the eyes. I would suggest this to anyone, it's easy, light weight and study. Very much worth the money. He also loves it now and looks so so cute in it.
